Collaborative Divorce
Sometimes a divorce is better accomplished outside of the courtroom, in a less litigious, more collaborative fashion. Attorney Jessica Ecker is one of a small handful of attorneys in New Hampshire and the Seacoast who is trained in the practice of Collaborative Divorce Law. Collaborative practice is a great option for people who need to maintain an ongoing relationship with their spouse and wish to reduce the stress and anxiety which comes with the court process. In Collaborative Law, the parties agree to try to resolve all issues without going to court. They each have their own collaborative attorney and, in a series of meetings, try to negotiate agreements on all issues. Other professionals, such as divorce "coaches", child specialists and financial professionals may be brought in to help. There is incentive to cooperate because if the parties decide to litigate, both parties attorneys must withdraw. For more information about collaborative divorce, go to www.collaborativelawnh.org.
