Denise Poulos is a resident Partner in our Portsmouth office. She has over 25 years of experience representing business clients and lending institutions as well as assisting individuals with their personal legal issues. Having begun her career as a general practice attorney, Denise has developed an extensive expertise in complex real estate and secured lending transactions, and represents both developers and unit owners associations of condominium and time-share projects. Denise has the ability to resolve title and other development problems that might stand in the way of a successful project. This skill has developed into a significant practice of representing both lenders and borrowers in complex financial transactions, as well as assisting them with the realization of collateral through workouts and foreclosures when necessary. Denise also works with individuals and businesses in the sale and acquisition of companies, whether it is the purchase of a local enterprise or the sale of the family corporation to a national company.
Denise grew up in Ardsley, New York and graduated from Goucher College in Towson, Maryland in 1976. Having spent two years on the west coast, she returned to attend New York Law School, graduating in 1981. After sitting for the New York State Bar exam, Denise headed to New Hampshire and started her career with two of her current partners at Kearns, Colliander, Donahue & Tucker in Exeter in 1982, subsequently moving her practice to Portsmouth in 1985. She received an LLM in Taxation from Boston University Law School in 1986.
Having spent her professional career in the New Hampshire Seacoast area, Denise has been involved with the Seacoast business community for over 25 years, and has met and worked with many business and community leaders throughout that time. For several years she practiced with offices in both Portsmouth and Manchester, New Hampshire, which expanded her contacts with professionals throughout the State of New Hampshire. These professional contacts serve as a valuable resource when advising clients on the various aspects of their business or other legal issues.
In addition to professinal associations, Denise is member and officer of the Board of Directors of Seacaost Hospice and a former member and officer of the Board of Directors of Special Olympics New Hampshire.
