Haden joined our firm in May, 2005, after practicing law in Connecticut for over 20 years. His practice focuses on wills and trusts, estate planning, elder law, tax, real estate and small business matters. Haden helps individuals and couples to plan ahead for issues such as incapacity, death of a spouse, retirement, long-term care, avoiding federal estate taxes, guardianships, trusts for children and transfer of family businesses.
Prior to coming to Donahue, Tucker & Ciandella, PLLC, Haden served for seven years as an Assistant Town Attorney for the Town of Greenwich, Connecticut, gaining extensive experience in municipal law, land use and zoning. As an Assistant Town Attorney, he served as counsel to the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Agency and the town's nursing home.
Haden also argued seven appeals before the Connecticut Supreme Court, including cases on affordable housing, historic districts, zoning and "right to know" issues. He has also appeared before the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut as well as the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
Born in 1957, Haden grew up in Rye, New York, and received his A.B., cum laude, from Princeton University in 1979. In 1984, he received his J.D. from Fordham University's School of Law in New York, NY, where he was an Associate Editor of the Law Review and published an article entitled "Third-Party Removal Under Section 1441(c)," 52 Fordham L. Rev. 133 (1983). Upon graduation, Haden entered private practice with firms in Greenwich, CT, and New York, NY. He subsequently opened his own law office in Greenwich, CT, concentrating on trusts and estates, elder law, tax, residential real estate, and zoning.
Haden is a member of the New Hampshire and Connecticut bars, and also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Districts of New Hampshire and Connecticut. He was previously a member of the House of Delegates for the Connecticut Bar Association.
Haden moved with his family to the Seacoast in the Spring of 2005. He resides in New Castle, New Hampshire, with his wife Catherine and their two sons.
