DTC offers comprehensive telecommunications law that serves both private and public sector clients. We promote strategic legal positioning of our clients in this dynamic legal and business environment. We are able to help our clients avoid potential legal problems while providing a readiness to address such problems should they arise. In this area of the law, experience is the key to understanding present legal issues and anticipating potential developments in the law and issues arising from those developments. We offer that experience in a variety of forums and contexts, from litigating complex issues such as wireless telecommunications facilities siting and negotiating telecommunications contracts, to designing and executing successful regulatory legal strategies. Our telecommunications practice group team is recognized as the preeminent firm in New Hampshire representing municipalties on telecommunications matters. Our work for NH cities and towns includes:
- Negotiating renewals of cable television franchises with all three of the major cable operators in New Hampshire (Comcast, TimeWarner and Metrocast);
- Advising planning boards and zoning boards of adjustment on applications for wireless or cell tower facilities and antennae, and
- Advising municipalities on options for upgrading municipal networks for twenty first century capabilities (including improved emergency management and efficient intra-municipal connections)
Our firm also represents telecommunications companies in legal and regulatory matters, assisting in permitting for wireless facilities and negotiating contracts and leases for antennas and towers. Our service to both business and government clients in the telecommunications law field positions DTC uniquely to serve both types of clients effectively. Our attorneys appear regularly in court and regulatory actions at both the federal and state levels, including state and federal courts in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, the Federal Communications Commission and the NH Public Utilities Commission. As a public service, DTC attorneys lecture around the state on telecommunications law. Robert D. Ciandella, Esquire, chairman of the DTC Telecommunications Law Practice Group, serves on the Telecommunications Advisory Board, which assists the Governor and Legislature in setting telecommunications policy for the State of New Hampshire.
