DTC’s Environmental Practice Group focuses on the issues that business owners, municipalities, developers and land owners regularly confront in the environmental arena arising from the tremendous growth in the regulatory efforts of all levels of government, together with private enforcement of environmental standards. DTC’s response to our client’s needs features an in-depth understanding of the statutes and regulations governing environmental impacts, ranging from the Super Fund regulatory enforcement by EPA and the Army Corps jurisdiction over wetlands at the Federal level to the Shoreland Water Quality Protection Act and Water Withdrawal permitting regimes administered by the State’s Department of Environmental Services.
We are familiar with and work closely and cooperatively with the leading environmental consultants in the field. We are also well known and respected by the regulators themselves; e.g. one of the partners, Michael Donahue, serves on NH DES’s Brownfields Advisory Board.
In our practice we recognize that environmental compliance can be a frustrating and expensive process, so we act proactively for our clients to create options in both permitting and risk assessment. Because of our experience on behalf of municipal clients and our working knowledge of NH DES and US EPA funding sources, we are particularly adept at structuring transactions that involve environmentally impaired properties, often with the help of financial assistance from governmental grant programs.
