DTC Tours The New YMCA Community Facility

On Wednesday, July 15, attorneys and staff from DTC toured the new YMCA community facility being built on Linden Street in Exeter. The construction is moving fast, and the full-sized gymnasium, locker rooms, exercise and wellness class rooms as well as charming “nooks” for congregating and relaxing (including one with a working fireplace!) are now clearly visible in the new building. Even on a rainy late afternoon, natural daylight streamed into the gym and other rooms via “solar tubes,” carrying the natural light indoors. Visitors commented on the broad windows that bring the green vistas of woods, lawns and trees into the building. DTC is proud to have made donations to the Southern District YMCA and pledged to continue to donate for several years towards this construction.

DTC Supports Workforce Housing

In October, DTC joined Kennebunk Savings Bank and the Town of Stratham in sponsoring a two day Workforce Housing Design Charrette presented by volunteer members of the Workforce Housing Coalition.  DTC has been designated as a “Community Builder” by the Coalition for its support of workforce housing initiatives in the Seacoast.  The Stratham Charrette produced two alternate development scenarios for nearly 100 acres adjacent to the Town Center which were prepared by two teams of professionals donating their time.  The scenarios which showed the integration of workforce and market rate housing with mixed use (office, retail and even a brew pub) and cluster subdivision construction were based upon the existing zoning and the input of Stratham residents, several of whom attended and participated in the opening and presentation sessions held at the Stratham Town Office.

DTC Senior Partner, Mike Donahue, of DTC’s Land Use Practice Group, attended both sessions contributing to the educational aspects of the presentation.  Mike also added the benefit of the Firm’s ready familiarity with Stratham’s land use regulations and extensive permitting experience of other successful projects in the community.  For more information on the Charrette click here.
